The PR Network is happy to announce that we’ve taken our first step towards a Net Zero future for our company. We’ve always believed business can be a force for good and we’re working hard to prove just that. Following our B Corp certification in June 2023, we’ve partnered with climate consultancy Furthr to develop our sustainability strategy.

As changes to our environment become clearer, our team wanted to develop a long term plan for minimising emissions stemming from our business activities. For our first emission measurement programme, we’ve assessed our travel and work from home emissions, looked at hours worked by our Associate Partners (independent consultants and small agencies), as well as analysed services and supplier-associated emissions.

With Furthr's assistance, we've gained a clear picture of our carbon footprint. We're now taking proactive measures to lower our emissions and counterbalance any that remain. Have a look at the detailed breakdown of our 2022 emissions below.

Beyond just reporting, The PR Network is also committed to making meaningful investments in projects on the frontline of the climate crisis. This year, as part of our offsetting programme, we’re supporting projects in Myanmar and Uganda, promoting nature-based carbon removal solutions, as well as community-focused emissions reduction schemes*. These initiatives align with our pledge to neutralise emissions and invest in lasting environmental solutions.

We’re also funding monthly protected reforestation projects. Tackling some of the most at-risk ecosystems in East Africa and working directly with communities looking to restore natural habitats, each month will see trees planted on behalf of our team. Watch this space to see our company forest grow as our team takes steps to live greener each day.

And finally, in addition to these external projects, we  believe it's important that our team is empowered to make a difference on a personal level. As such, our employees have been given access to the Furthr Climate Companion app to help them live more sustainably. This gives everyone the tools they need to manage their own carbon footprint, become an integral part of our company's effort to reduce carbon emissions, and get customised suggestions to lead a greener life.

* All Furthr projects are certified by; the Global Leaders in Climate Action: Gold Standard, Verified Carbon Standard, United Nations Climate Change or Eden Reforestation Projects.

Carbon Removal

Mangroves are an essential part of Myanmar's coastal ecosystem, providing habitat for a diverse range of marine and terrestrial species, as well as acting as a natural barrier to erosion and storms. The project area encompasses Magyi, Thabawkan, and Thaegone village tracts, where a healthy ecosystem will be established. In this project, approximately 9.1 million new mangrove plants are planted as additionality on the degraded mangrove lands.
